The client:

Lu Ripley is the founder of ConnectED Training & Consulting, a business dedicated to making mental health and wellness central to strong, thriving workplaces and communities. Lu’s approach blends empathy, cultural humility, and practical tools to create meaningful, lasting change.

the exploration:

We began with a thoughtful, grounding process to understand the heart of her work: practical, trauma-informed training designed to help teams navigate real-world challenges with compassion and competence.

Through structured coaching and brand exploration, we clarified her message, her values, and the identity she wanted the brand to express. 

the challenge:

Lu came into the project with a strong body of trauma-informed training expertise, but as a new independent practice she did not have an established brand. She was looking for a process to help her clarify her audience and offerings while creating a business that was centred in her own unique approach and vision. 

The challenge was to create a brand and website that communicates professionalism and warmth — and support her in bringing forward her own voice and story with clarity and confidence.

the approach:

  1. Define the brand’s essence: We identified warmth, grounded leadership, professionalism, and accountability as the core qualities ConnectED needed to embody — guiding every design and messaging decision.
  2. Build a warm, professional visual identity: A customized wordmark expressing connection and education, along with a submark built from the connected “o” motif. A nature-rooted palette (olive, dark green, sage, ivory) for calm and trust and typography that balances friendliness with clarity.
  3. Develop clear, accessible messaging: We refined the language of her offerings so clients see the clarity, depth, and practicality of her training work.
  4. Copywriting support: With guidance and support, Lu developed the copy for her website based on the personal brand work we had completed.
  5. Design a website around her voice and story: Using a TONIC template, we customized the layout, flow, and structure to highlight her unique approach and make it easy for organizations to understand and engage with her services.
  6. Create a cohesive, sustainable brand system: Her final brand guidelines ensure consistency across future trainings, presentations, and communications.
